Who is Krishna?

Lord Krishna is the son of King Vasudeva and his wife, Devai. Krishna was born on July 18 or 21, 3233 BC. He belongs to the Yadawa noble family of the Mathura kingdom. The birthday of Lord Krishna is known as Janmasthami. Krishna's cousin uncle, named Kangsa, seized the power of Uncle Devaki, namely Urgasena, and threw him in prison.

Because Kansa was worried that his power would be threatened by Devaki's sons, Kangsa finally killed 5 of Krishna's older brothers after they were born into the world. The newly born Krishna was smuggled out of prison and entrusted to a married couple named Nanda and Yasoda in the village of Vrindavan. Krishna has an older brother named Baladewa (Balarama) and a younger sister named Subhadra.

In his childhood and youth, Krishna and his friends became cattle herders in Vrindavan. Kangsa's uncle, kept looking for Krishna and plotted to kill him. However, despite having sent various envoys to kill Krishna, he always survived the threat.

After Krishna grew up, he managed to kill King Kangsa after winning a wrestling match with various wrestlers at King Kangsa Palace. Then he returned Urgasena's power and freed his two biological parents who were in Kangsa prison. After that, he was made a prince.

Due to Jarasanda's threat from the Magadha Kingdom, Krishna had to save the Yadawa population and move to West India, where he established a new kingdom under the name Dwaraka Kingdom. After that, Krishna managed to defeat Jarasanda's ally, Kalayawana.
